Biggest winners at Metro FM Awards

TRAIN of Love, the music album that made Donald Moatshe one of the biggest winners of the Metro FM Music Awards in Durban at the weekend, has reached gold status.

It has sold more than 20000 copies, adding to the singer's joy at scooping the Best Produced Album and Best Styled Artist awards.

Moatshe burst out in tears as he thanked and acknowledged the presence of his mother in the audience at the Durban International Convention Centre.

The singer - who revamped his look and changed his sound to produce the hit Train of Love last year - has surely reaped the rewards of his hard work.

"This is the first time I was nominated and won awards. I am so blessed," said the I Deserve hit maker.

Independent record label Kalawa Jazmee's artists also scooped big awards on the night.

Professor - real name Mkhonzeni Langa - walked away with Best Male and Best Kwaito Album for his latest album The Orientation.

Jazmee's co-owner, Oscar Mdlongwa, won the most anticipated award of the night, Song of the Year, for the hit single Tsa Mandebele featuring Candy Mokwena and also grabbed the Best Compilation award.

Idols winner Kaya Mthethwa scooped the Best Newcomer kudos, while Afro-soul singer Berita Khumalo walked away with the Best Afro-pop Album honour. The Muffinz made their presence felt by being announced as the winners of the Best Group category. Veteran singer and producer Sello "Chicco" Twala was honoured with a Lifetime Award.

Arthur Mafokate walked away with Best Digital Downloaded Song award for Hlokoloza. He accepted the award with his daughter, Owami.

Fashion was also the highlight of the night, with black carpet co-presenter Minnie Dlamini changing into three different outfits.

Her co-presenter on the night, William Lehong, did not disappoint in the fashion stakes.

Other fashion hits were Nandi Mngoma, Noluthando Shosha, Lerato Kganyago, Theo Nhlengethwa, Thembi Seete, Simphiwe Dana and Moneoa Moshesh.
