THREE senior North West officials have been fired over tender irregularities and fraud, the province said

Two of the officials were found guilty through disciplinary processes, spokesman Lesiba Kgwele said.

The two were former acting head of the North West public works department, who was also the substantive chief director for roads, and the chief financial officer.

"Both officials were on suspension for irregularities related to the awarding of the Koster-Lichtenburg road construction tender," Kgwele said.

Kgwele said sports MEC Tebogo Modise had also fired an assistant director in her department. He was found to have defrauded the Rustenburg Cultural Centre of reservation booking funds.

He also said the provincial executive council meeting had resolved to recoup the misappropriated funds.
