A teenager will appear in a Durban court on Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed a fellow pupil to death at a school, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
Two teenage boys stabbed each other with knives during a fight at the Fairvale Secondary School in Wentworth on Tuesday, Colonel Vincent Mdunge said.
“All we know is there were two boys that had a fight, but we don’t know what had sparked the confrontation.”
The two pupils were taken to hospital where one, aged 15, died from his wounds.
He had been stabbed in his chest three times, and right arm.
The other pupil, who was stabbed in his chest, was in his parents’ custody at hospital.
His case might be heard by the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court in absentia.
Mdunge said while police had not noticed an increase in violence between school children, bullying at school remained an issue.
