Mangaung voting delegates allocated

THE allocation of voting delegates for the ANC's national elective conference in Mangaung later this year was decided yesterday, the party said.

A team from the national executive council agreed on the formula that was used to allocate the last 416 branch voting delegates into the final total of 4500 delegates, spokesman Jackson Mthembu said in a statement.

The best-represented province would be President Jacob Zuma's home province, KwaZulu-Natal, with 974 delegates, followed by Eastern Cape and Limpopo with 676 and 574 respectively.

Gauteng would have 500 voting delegates, Mpumalanga 467, the Free State 324 and North West 234. Only 176 voting delegates would come from the Northern Cape while 178 would come from the Western Cape.

The branch voting delegates comprised 91.2% of the total.

The remaining 8.8% were members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), the party's provinces and leagues. Forty-five would attend on behalf of the ANC Women's League and the same number for the youth and veterans leagues.

Eighty-two members of the ANC NEC would attend, while 180 would come from the provinces.
