Miners shot, wounded on East Rand

Four miners were shot and wounded early today by security guards at Gold One’s flagship Modder East mine near Springs, police said.

Spokeswoman Captain Pinky Tsinyane said they were taken to hospital. One of them was in a critical condition.

Four people were arrested in connection with public violence, she said.
