CORRUPTION at the Alberton Magistrate's Court resulted in a number of dockets, some of serious cases, missing.
This was revealed by Major-General Norman Taioe, Gauteng's head of detectives, at the Palm Ridge Community Hall in Thokoza on the East Rand on Wednesday.
Taioe, accompanied by Justice Minister Jeff Radebe, was speaking to residents of Ekurhuleni. He said measures had been put in place to make sure it did not happen again.
"We had a number of incidents at the Alberton Magistrate's Court at which dockets went missing. I think one involved a prosecutor misplacing the docket.
"In some instances, it was due to corruption. However, those responsible were severely punished," Taioe said.
"We already have two police officers responsible for seeing to it that no other docket goes missing ." - selebim@ sowetan.co.za
