FIVE people were killed when a minibus taxi and a delivery vehicle collided in Etwatwa, East Rand, yesterday, Gauteng paramedics said.
Another nine people were injured, four of them critically, when the two vehicles crashed head-on on the N12 near the Daveyton offramp at about 6am, Netcare 911 spokesman Jeff Wicks said.
The delivery vehicle overturned and rolled up an embankment after the impact. It was not clear which vehicle those killed were in.
The cause of the accident was not yet known.
