Five robbers were killed in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth on Friday morning while trying to rob a brewery, Eastern Cape police said.
“The five suspects were busy robbing the cash office and a shoot-out ensued, which led to five of the suspects [being] killed and six firearms recovered,” said Captain Andre Beetge.
He said the police had been tipped off about the planned heist and were on the scene.
Two other robbers fled in a white Jetta, which was later recovered.
No civilians or police were injured in the shoot-out.
