A TRUCK driver was jailed for 10 years by the East London Regional Court yesterday for being in possession of dagga with a street value of R5-million.

Welile Makhanda, 55, was arrested by the East London Dog Unit on the N2 near Gonubie in the early hours of August 26 2010, said Lieutenant-Colonel Mtati Tana.

Police stopped and searched him as part of a patrol while he was on his way to Cape Town.

Major-General Sandile Hloba praised the police team.
