SA woman held in Uganda over drug offence

A SOUTH African woman is recovering in hospital under police guard after she was found unconscious in a hotel room in Uganda, the Daily Mail reported at the weekend.

Ugandan police would investigate whether Kathryne Fuller, who was found next to the body of American producer Jeff Rice, had committed a drug offence.

Rice was the producer of the television show, The Amazing Race.

His body was found on a balcony of the Serena Hotel in Uganda with blood pouring from his nose and mouth, the newspaper reported.

Ugandan police said an autopsy showed that Rice had died of a cocaine overdose as there were large quantities of the drug in his stomach.

Fuller also tested positive for the drug.

Her father, Stuart Fuller, said the family was trying to bring her home.

"We are trying to get her back to South Africa. She needs medical attention that they can't do there," he said.

A forensic pathology consultant said the bag of white powder found at the scene was a mixture of a component of heroin, tylenol and caffeine.
