A North West hospital official and his friend appeared in the Taung Magistrate’s Court today for the alleged statutory rape of a teenage girl

The case was postponed until March 2 for a date for the transfer  of the case to the regional court, said police spokesman Brigadier Thulane Ngubane.

The two men, who may not be identified, were granted bail of R1,000 each at an earlier court appearance.

The official allegedly had an affair with the 15-year-old girl and had sex with her after a party.

He asked his friend to take the girl home, but on the way there,  he too allegedly had sex with the girl.

She told her sister, who alerted the police.
