A man accused of killing five joggers when he crashed into them, allegedly while driving drunk, was granted R80,000 bail in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Sbusiso Langa, 43, faces five charges of murder, one of attempted murder, and one of drunken driving.

One of the conditions of Langa’s bail is that he is not allowed to drive while out on bail.

The accident took place on October 23.

Four women and a man were killed. Another man was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.

The runners were preparing for the Soweto Marathon when they were hit by a Mercedes Benz ML500.
