TWO pellet guns were confiscated from two men in Kroonstad for being "life-threatening", Free State police said on Friday.

The men were walking in Constantia on Thursday morning when they were stopped by police because it looked as though they were concealing guns under their shirts, Sergeant Tlalanyane Pakela said.

"Police cornered and disarmed them, only to find that the concealed objects were toy pellet guns each having a magazine with 14 pellets." Pakela said they removed the "two life-threatening toy guns from the public" as they resembled real pistols. The men were not arrested as no charge was laid.

Colonel Pule Solo of visible policing in Thabong said: "These toy guns may be used to commit crimes.

"We appeal to parents not to buy their children such toys." - Sapa
