ANCYL in KZN is 'behind Zuma'

EVERYONE in KwaZulu-Natal supports President Jacob Zuma, says provincial ANCYL secretary Bheki Mtolo

Mtolo, who is reported to be an ally of ANCYL president Julius Malema, said his comrades in the province were behind Zuma.

"I do not know of anyone in the ANC Youth League in the province who does not support President Zuma."

Mtolo denied knowledge of a plan by the ANCYL national executive committee (NEC) to disband the provincial administration because of its support for Zuma.

Mtolo's deputy Sboniso Duma was adamant on Saturday that the league's national leadership would disband the structure because they backed Zuma's second term.

Duma said he knew for a fact that the national leadership of the league was unhappy with their stance and were planning to disband the provincial executive committee.

ANCYL spokesman Floyd Shivambu confirmed the meeting but denied that the plan was to disband the committee. There is a meeting but those who say the province will be disbanded are excited over nothing," he said.

In an apparent support for Zuma, the league in KwaZulu-Natal flatly refused to send members to join those who came to Johannesburg to support Malema when he appeared for the first time before a disciplinary committee.

League members in the province have isolated Mtolo for his perceived divergent views, and are now demanding that he resign either as the ANCYL secretary in the province or from his position as deputy mayor of Kokstad municipality.
