THE police union yesterday condemned police killings.

Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union national spokesperson Norman Mampane said the killing of police was an attack on democracy since police served to protect communities.

The concern comes after two KwaZulu-Natal police officers were murdered since the beginning of this week.

On Monday an Umlazi township Constable Zanele Shandu, 39, was gunned down by her boyfriend.

After shooting Shandu the boyfriend turned the gun on himself and died.

On Tuesday a Ladysmith Warrant Officer Thokozani Ngcobo, 43, was shot in his home's driveway and the killers fled without taking anything.
