A FAMILY in Mathateng village outside Mahikeng, North West, received donations as part of Nelson Mandela International Day.

MEC for local government and traditional Affairs Paul Sebegoe yesterday spent 67 minutes of his time to provide humanitarian relief to the impoverished family.

Sebegoe built an improved, ventilated toilet and donated a blanket and food parcel to the Maleko family.

Pensioner Tlhalefang Maleko, 93, who is the family's sole breadwinner, lives in a one-roomed tent with 11 relatives .

"I am happy to get the toilet. At least I will no longer have to go to the bushes," she said.
