A NORTH West government official was allegedly caught speeding at 189km/h in a 120km/h zone on Monday, and released on a warning, the province's human settlements department said.
MEC Desbo Mohono called for an investigation to determine if the 46-year-old man was given special treatment, said her spokesperson Lesiba Kgwele.
The man, a member of the North West operating licensing board - which issues operating licences for taxis - was allegedly trapped speeding on the N4 near Brits at 11.15am.
He was apparently on his way to a meeting with a taxi association in his Audi A4.
