THABONG, Welkom, police are not only putting criminals behind bars but are also feeding the hungry.

The station's women's network visited Thandanani and Ofentse Day Care centres to make a difference in the lives of the little ones.

Led by Lieutenant Colonel Senobia Solomon, the women made soup for the children and gave them bread.

The Thandanani and Ofentse Day Care centres were chosen mainly because children from these crèches are from disadvantaged families.

"It is hard to put bread on the table these days," Solomon said. "As women we thought of the children from disadvantaged families.

"We want these children to feel that they are being cared for."

Children loitering around the Thandanani village streets were not left out but they were invited and given a warm soup and oranges.

Thabong station commander Brigadier Cois Muller thanked the women for the good work they have been doing.

"The community of Thabong must know that police work is not only to put criminals behind bars," Muller said. " The police are human beings and are the ones who are exposed to different types of living in the community they are serving."

"In other words, they become emotionally affected by the situations other people live in, so they believe they can make a little difference with small things that they have.

"Little things mean a lot to those who receive as they are given with love."
