MORE than 50 teachers bunked school yesterday to attend a court appearance of Sadtu official Moss Senye, the Democratic Alliance has claimed.

Senye - chairperson of Sadtu's Gauteng central region and a school principal - and a teacher, Ofentse Phehle, were to appear in the Protea magistrate's court yesterday.

They are accused of assaulting a 17-year-old pupil.

DA Gauteng education spokesperson Khume Ramulifho said the DA would submit questions to the department of education over teachers opting to attend court instead of school.
