Zanele Magwaza-Msibi escapes injury

NATIONAL Freedom Party leader Zanele Magwaza-Msibi escaped without injury when the police Tactical Response Team vehicle leading her motorcade was involved in a fatal accident yesterday morning.

Two men died in the collision.

The incident occurred on the R34 at the Gluckstadt intersection when the TRT vehicle and a minibus taxi collided. Another car rammed into the two cars.

Road Traffic Inspectorate spokesperson Zinhle Mngomezulu said the cause of the accident was being investigated.

"Two men died in the collision while two from the other car were seriously injured.

"Five others, including a policeman, were taken to the Vryheid Provincial Hospital," said Mngomezulu.

She said Magwaza-Msibi was in a Mercedes-Benz, "kilometres from where the incident occurred".

Magwaza-Msibi, the newly elected mayor of the Zululand district municipality, was on her way to the rural Bhadeni area where social development MEC Meshack Radebe and Safa president Kirsten Nematandani were to launch a R40million youth skills development centre.
