THE past week saw the long-awaited global launch of the latest Bond novel, Carte Blanche, which is set largely in Cape Town.
The new James Bond is written by author Jeffrey Deaver, pictured, and is set in Serbia, London, Dubai and the Mother City.
Carte Blanche is the 37th novel about the spy. Asked why he chose Cape Town as the book's backdrop, Deaver said: "I've been coming to Cape Town for 10 years. I love the country. And true to James Bond novels, Cape Town is exotic and beautiful."
The novel includes a brief history of South Africa and introduces readers to musicians such as Thandiswa Mazwai and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. - Sowetan Reporter
