Free State police have called on the public to help them find a person who could assist in an investigation involving a man who allegedly meets people on the dating site "Flirt" and then robs them.

Captain Stephen Thakeng said yesterday the police were looking for Renier Christiaan Bezuidenhout, who is in his 50s with "greyish hair", and believed to be in the Goldfields area or Klerksdorp in North West.

Thakeng said Bezuidenhout could help the police in a case that was reported in December by a 48-year-old woman of Odendaalsrus who had R10500 worth of jewellery stolen from her home.

She met the man last year in December and after their first meeting, the pair agreed that he would stay at her house for a few days.

The woman met the man "on the chatting network called 'Flirt' through her cellphone".

Anyone with information on Bezuidenhout's whereabouts should contact Detective Warrant Officer Duppie du Plessis on 057-916-2438 or 082-764-6721.
