A NEWBORN baby was found abandoned on a pavement in Marble Hall on New Year's Eve, the Mpumalanga health and social development department said yesterday.
The "miracle baby", weighing 2,7kg, was found unharmed by members of the public with a tag strapped to her hand saying "Panyaza", spokesperson Cecil Motsepe said.
She was taken to the police who took her to Matlala Hospital.
MEC for health and social development Miriam Segabutla urged the mother to come forward so that her "socioeconomic" needs could be assessed.
