Stink over Beyoncé perfume

ARE South Africans a warm-blooded dirty lot or are we just a bunch of free spirits?

Hundreds of Kaya FM listeners have lashed out at the banning of Beyoncé's raunchy advert for her perfume, Heat Rush, by the UK's Advertising Standards Authority after complaints from 14 viewers.

The television watchdog deemed the advert "too sexually provocative" to be seen by young children.

The advert will not be flighted on British television earlier than 7.30pm, according to The Sun newspaper.

During the Kaya FM Good Morning Gauteng breakfast show yesterday, host Bob Mabena, who was standing in for Kgomotso Matsunyane, had tongues wagging when he raised the issue of the banned advert on the show.

Most listeners who called in found nothing wrong with the advert that begins with Beyoncé lying in a room. She caresses her thighs while wearing a sexy red dress.

When she walks away from the camera her footprints melt.

"Catch the fever," says the 29-year-old American singer at the end. A male voice-over then says: "Beyoncé Heat."
