Man nabbed for fake licences

A 49-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in Acacia, Pretoria, yesterday for being in possession of fraudulent driver's licences and other documents, Johannesburg Metro police said.

The man was apparently selling temporary driver's licences for R5000 each in central Johannesburg, spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said.

Police received a tip-off about the scam, arrested and escorted the man to his room in Acacia, where they found 13 fake temporary driver's licences that had been printed. They also found 53 blank licences waiting to be filled in, an alleged fake matric certificate and a vehicle licence disk.

The man was expected to appear in court today.
