Former Big Brother celeb is now Aurora's new security boss

Big Brother is watching! Former Big Brother celebrity Brad Wood has been appointed security manager at Aurora Empowerment System's Orkney and Springs operations, according to a letter sent to its employees.

Trade union Solidarity on Tuesday confirmed the appointment and said it had seen the letter.

"Yes, I saw that letter, which just raises eyebrows because it's a controversial appointment," spokesman Gideon Du Plessis told Sapa.

"Either they [Aurora] don't care about security or they are desperate."

Eyewitness News reported in August that Wood was allegedly involved in the Aurora Empowerment Systems mine shooting. Four illegal miners were killed and several others wounded, allegedly by security guards at the underground shaft of the company's Grootvlei mine on the East Rand.

Wood's lawyer told Eyewitness News he was at the mine when the miners were shot.

He was head of the security company used at the mine, owned by President Jacob Zuma's nephew Khulubuse Zuma and former president Nelson Mandela's grandson Zondwa Mandela.
