Samwu, council in dispute

MEMBERS of the South African Municipal Workers Union in Limpopo have accused the Thabazimbi municipality of outsourcing municipal services.

The union said yesterday it had made the shocking discovery recently that 19 municipal services would be outsourced. These included water quality monitoring, repairs and maintenance of switchgears, testing of relay circuit breakers and the cutting of trees, to mention but a few.

The union's provincial chairperson, Manthata Mamaile, yesterday said they were alerted to the move and asked for a meeting with management.

But municipal manager, Rodger Nkhumise yesterday said the matter had been "discussed and agreed on with the union ..."
