The lives of a family of five is set to change for the better when Ligwalagwala-FM donate a brand new house worth R450,000 to them today.
The radio station, based in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, will donate the house to the Hlabangane family from Zwelisha Trust near Nelspruit.
The mother, Busisiwe, is blind.
Her eldest son, Lucky Nkuna, 21, is also partially blind and unemployed.
Busisiwe's other children are aged 11, 14 and 18.
Station manager Rio Mabunda said: "It was through the caring efforts of the community that the dire conditions under which this family was surviving was brought to the attention of our breakfast show host Madumane Simelane and his producer, Bheki Sihlabela.
"The two men made it the centre of their Masakhane feature, a feature meant to change lives," he said.
The Hlabanganes, who used to live in a two-roomed shack, will now enjoy the comfort of a three-bedroom house with a kitchen and living room.
"A live broadcast of the breakfast show from the Hlabangane household will also set the mood of celebration before the official handover," said Mabunda.
