A LIMPOPO mother of a 21-year-old woman who was found dead after meeting her blind date is struggling to come to terms with what happened to her daughter.

Merriam Rasebotsa said her daughter Sina Rasebotsa's death, after she met a blind date through a private radio dating programme, had been a thorn in her heart since she left without saying goodbye to her.

Merriam, pictured, 45, of Bodupe, Bolobedu, said she was not at peace with herself since she identified the badly decomposed body of her daughter in a mortuary at the Letaba Hospital outside Tzaneen last week.

Sina met the man whom she thought would make her happy in the Tzaneen CBD.

Her decomposed body was found by community members who informed the police.

Merriam blamed Capricorn FM management for introducing the programme, saying she was afraid that many women might suffer the same fate.

She said she was deeply disturbed by the untimely death of her daughter, who was the only girl in a family of five children.

Merriam accused the police of dragging their feet in their investigations.

"I am very disturbed because my only daughter was not a person who used to visit areas outside her home village and spend the night," she said.

A close friend of Sina's, Elisa Ramatladi, said she called her at about 4pm on May 22 to ask her how she was doing. Sina told her she was still busy having dinner with the man - and that was the last time she heard Sina's voice.

She was buried at the Bodupe Cemetery last Friday.

Meanwhile, Capricorn FM programme manager Shonisani "Shabba" Muleya told Sowetan that the matter would be discussed internally, though he could not divulge more details about what would be done about the programme.
