WITH South Africans still basking in the glow of the 2010 World Cup, Bafana Bafana captain Aaron "Mbazo" Mokoena is flooded with offers from several top clubs in Europe and Qatar.

Sowetan can reveal that two English Premiership sides, West Ham United and Bolton Wanderers, are among those who have made firm offers for the Bafana Bafana skipper.

If he accepts the West Ham offer, Mokoena could once team up with compatriot Benni McCarthy. They played together at Ajax Amsterdam and Blackburn Rovers.

He could also be reunited with Avram Grant, who coached him at the relegated Portsmouth.

Pompey are also keen to convince Mokoena not to leave Fratton Park. Portsmouth have offered Mokoena a new deal that has an escape clause to allow him to join a club of his choice if they do not gain promotion to the Premiership for the 2011-2012 season.

"I had a meeting with the technical staff members of Portsmouth a few days ago to discuss my future with the club in the new season," Mokoena said yesterday.

"You will recall that I still have two seasons left in my contract with Portsmouth.

"Portsmouth have made it clear they want to rebuild the club around me.

"They are confident the club will bounce back to the English Premiership in the following (2011-12) season and wanted me to be there to guide the new team they are building for the future.

"I have to confess my heart is still there at Portsmouth and they are offering me a new contract if I remain with the club.

"I can confirm that there are a number of offers from several big clubs - three in the English Premiership, two in Qatar and one in Turkey.

"There are number of things I am still assessing, though, and I will decide sometime next week," said the highly successful but humble defender.
