FOUR people survived a six metre fall in a taxi in Durban on Monday night, paramedics said.

"It is a miracle no-one was killed," ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks said.

He said the taxi is believed to have swerved to avoid an oncoming car at the intersection of Berea and Manning roads and was struck on its side by the oncoming vehicle.

"With the impact, the taxi went through the railing and onto the N3," Banks said.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital with neck and back injuries.

"There were four people in the taxi. All four miraculously came out without serious injuries," Banks said. - Sapa
