WATERBRON High School will never be the same again after the loss of their deputy principal, Mathabeng Emily Mochochoko.

Thabi, as she was known, was a multi-tasked teacher, a mother to the students and adviser to the school principal.

Mochochoko completed her teaching training at the Strydom Teaching College in Thaba Nchu and Her BCom in Education at the University of the Free State.

In her young days Mochochoko was a member of the Girl Guides.

She started working at Monyatsi High School in 1972 in Bloemfontein and in 1975 she was transferred to Waterbron Intermediate school, where she was also head of department.

Mochochoko was in charge of extramural activities and loved netball and athletics. With the support of her athletes, Waterbron used to win trophies in many competitions.

She also initiated the donation of bicycles to the Waterbron Intermediate School through the Zola 7 TV programme for pupils who used to walk long distances to school.

She was also known for initiating donations to the school tohelp pupils get a better education.

Mochochoko was a strong believer and was a committee secretary at the St Paul African Church.

Her commitment to the church was recognised when she was awarded a certificate of good service by the church. She was also involved in various stokvels around her area.

Mochochoko was known for her great sense of humor and love for interior design, though cooking and shopping was regarded as her fulltime hobbies.

She is survived by four daughters, and a granddaughter.

Mochochoko taught for 35 years and her death is a great loss not only to the school but to the Bainsvlei community as well.

Her funeral service will take place at Boikucho Old Age Home Hall at 7.30am tomorrow. She will then be buried at 9888 Grassland, Heidedal.
