METRORAIL has set aside more than 10 trains to take fans to Soccer City stadium on Sunday for the World Cup final game between Spain and The Netherlands.
The train service will be for free to valid holders of match tickets going to watch the final, Metrorail's Tu Dlamini said.
The first train from Johannesburg will depart from Park Station at 4pm and arrive at Nasrec station at 4.40pm.
Dlamini said there would also be two trains from Pretoria station, with the first departing at 4.07pm and reaching Nasrec at 6.10pm.
"The train will make stops at Centurion, Oakmoor, Kempton Park, Rhodesfield, Isando, Germiston and Park station," she said.
Dlamini said the last train from Pretoria will depart at 4.28pm and arrive at Nasrec at 6.28pm.
She said the last train from Park station will depart at 6.10pm and arrive at Nasrec station at 6.50pm.
Lisa Seftel of the City of Johannesburg was also upbeat about there being enough transport for everyone.
"We have 400 buses and taxis to ferry soccer fans to the stadium," Seftel said. "We urge people to come early."
She said their buses and taxis would start operating at 11am for people who want to arrive early at the stadium.
"As soon as the match ends transport will be available to take people back to the park-and-ride facilities."
The City of Johannesburg have park-and-rides in the following areas: University of the Witwatersrand (Enoch Sontonga Avenue, Braamfontein); Constitution Hill (Joubert Street Extension, Braampark); and Gold Reef, (Data Crescent in Gold Reef, south of the Johannesburg CBD).
The City also has park-and-walks at Aeroton and Shareworld in Nasrec.
Traffic officials said they would be on high alert and encouraged people to use park-and-ride facilities to ensure entry and exit to Soccer City will be hassle-free.
