Bocelli, who walked beside long-time fiancée Veronica Berti, was flanked by a number of security personnel who led the Grammy-winning star to the arrivals terminal and whisked him away to his hotel.
The flight touched down at about 3pm.
Bocelli will perform with Canadian rocker Bryan Adams as well as South African soprano Pretty Yende in a concert titled Celebrate Africa - The Grand Finale.
Among some of the performers set to join the trio are Italian flautist Andrea Griminelli, the Gauteng Choristers and the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra. The conductor will be Marcello Rota.
Big Concert's Sophie Doherty said there were only a "few tickets left".
"When I checked this morning (yesterday), we had sold nearly 96percent of the tickets. Very soon we will be able to put up a 'sold out' sign on our website," she said.
Tonight's concert forms part of the winding down of what Fifa president Sepp Blatter called "the best World Cup ever", with more musical performances planned for the closing ceremony on Sunday.
Colombian hip-shaker Shakira will perform Waka Waka to more than 500million people in 215 countries alongside Freshlyground.
Other performers include local rapper Slikour, Abigail Kubeka, Theo Kgosinkwe and legendary maskandi singer Ihashi Elimhlophe.
The closing ceremony will only feature 780performers as opposed to the 1500 who performed during the opening on June 11.
Organisers urged fans attending the final match to arrive early at the stadium. Gates open at 2pm.
