ABOUT 400 employees in the Greater Tzaneen municipality, who downed tools on Tuesday in protest against alleged nepotism and corruption, returned to work yesterday.
This came after management entered into an agreement with the South African Municipal Workers Union, giving employers until Tuesday next week to consider their demands.
The workers had stormed the offices of municipal manager Mabakane Mangena and demanded that he approved the suspension of four managers. They accused them of nepotism, corruption and running their own businesses at the expense of the public.
Those fingered in the allegations were Mangena himself, chief financial officer André le Grange, IT administrator Jacques Myburg, and solid waste head Henk Mienie.
Mangena yesterday confirmed that the workers were back at work.
