I WISH to express my satisfaction with the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

I saw a united rainbow nation singing together, eating together, drinking together, dancing together and blowing vuvuzelas together.

I now know that sport can unite the nation. What is more surprising is that even after Bafana Bafana was knocked out people remained excited and attended other games.

As for our brothers from Ghana, as Irvin Khoza said, they deserve to be called the "Black Stars of Africa". They made us very proud and it is only God who knows why they couldn't advance to the next stage. The next step is to prepare this young team for the 2012 Afcon and 2014 Brazil. I have no doubt that in the next tournament they will bring the cup home.

Lastly, like any citizen of this province, I am very concerned about what will happen to the multi-million rand Mbombela Stadium. I appeal to the authorities and football fraternity to prevent it becoming a white elephant.
