Hordes of SABC1 viewers have been twitting about their tailored suits and trendy look.
The guy behind the celebrated look is Metro FM breakfast show producer and image consultant Lupi Ngcayisa.
Ngcayisa says he got a call from the SABC six days before the kick-off of the World Cup.
"The brief was simple - put together a wardrobe for the World Cup presenters," Ngcayisa says.
He says he was asked to come up with a look that spoke to the world as the "SABC is the official broadcaster and South Africa is the host country. Being chosen to do the job was a real honour".
"I'm delighted with the suits, which fit the brief perfectly. It feels good to give something that is representative of modern South African style. I enlisted the services of different designers including Asanda Madyibhi, Carducci, Hugo Boss and Grays, among others. I had to choose the best because the people we are dealing with are high-profile people in their own right."
Ngcayisa says he chose the look because "it is clean and made it easy to play with South African colours".
Will this look last? Is it the latest trend in fashion?
Ngcayisa is not sure because his contract will expire with the final whistle on Sunday, July 11.
"I would have loved to remain an SABC sports stylist. I hope they will renew my contract," he says.
Ngcayisa, who was paid "a few thousands" for the job, says the job had attracted a huge outcry from local stylists "who have a sense of entitlement. I'm not a stylist and I never claimed to be one. I'm an image consultant. People think that I got millions of rand but this was far less than half a million rand."
He says that for the past 10 years he has worked quietly with well-known celebrities and politicians.
