CONDOLENCES are pouring in for former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs defender Steve "Stimela" Mnguni, who succumbed to TB on Friday.

Mnguni, who was 52, will be buried at Westpark Cemetery on Saturday.

The player, who was a close friend of producer Sello "Chicco" Twala, was credited with nurturing the talents of players like Teko Modise and Benedict Vilakazi in Diepkloof. Mnguni took Modise to the now-defunct Ria Stars after Twala became involved with the Seshego-based side.

He was also involved in the music industry, co-starring in Twala's best-selling DVD My Lotto Ticket.

Mnguni released his debut album Siyabangena under his stage name, Khumza Khumalo.

Friend Bereng Kholoane said: "We have lost a great man of many talents."

Soweto Football Association chairperson Phil "Chippa" Mogodi said: "Bra Steve helped us develop the game, especially in Diepkloof." - Ramatsiyi Moholoa
