Maleka rewarded for helping Aces stay in PSL

MPHO "Zico" Maleka is still part of Mpumalanga Black Aces after extending his contract with AmaZayoni for another season.

MPHO "Zico" Maleka is still part of Mpumalanga Black Aces after extending his contract with AmaZayoni for another season.

Aces have also roped in goalkeeper Francis Chansa from Bidvest Wits. Chansa has signed a two-season deal.

The developments were confirmed by the side's chief executive, Mark Grune, yesterday.

Maleka, who played a pivotal role in making sure that Aces retained their Absa Premiership status by scoring five goals in the national playoffs, is over the moon after extending his stay.

"I want to ensure that the club finishes within the top-eight bracket next season. I also want to contest the top goal-scorer's award," Maleka said.

The arrival of Chansa at Aces will see goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro returning to Wits.

Grune confirmed that former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bongane Twala was also part of their squad.

l Wits announced that Geoffrey Sserunkuma and Kampamba Chintu have joined the team. Sserunkuma has been snapped up from Vasco da Gama, while Chintu joins from AmaZulu.

Wits spokesperson George Mogotsi announced that goalkeeper Wendell Robinson had retired from competitive football. "He will be our full-time goalkeepers' coach from next season," Mogotsi said.

l National First Division side Dynamos are negotiating with Ian Gorowa to replace Jacob "Cellular" Sakala, who is rumoured to have joined an unnamed Vodacom Promotional League side in North West.
