Husband runs over wife with bakkie

A BUSINESSMAN accused of killing his wife by intentionally driving over her after suspecting her of cheating on him is expected to appear in the Mapulaneng magistrate's court today.

Bushbuckridge police spokesperson Inspector Donald Mabasa said the 31-year-old businessman, who cannot be named before he appears in court, used his 4x4 bakkie to knock down Tebogo Moroane, 24, in Dwarsloop complex at the weekend.

"The man was phoned by a friend who told him his wife was seen relaxing in an Opel Corsa with a man suspected of being her boyfriend.

"The husband was very angry and drove to the complex where his wife was reportedly fondling another man.

"On arrival he found his wife sitting in the car and chatting with the man," Mabasa said.

"He opened the window and ordered the woman to get out of the vehicle.

"When she got out of the vehicle and walked towards him he accelerated the still idling vehicle and knocked her down.

"When she tried to stand up, he reversed the car and knocked her down again. After driving over her several times he sped off."

Mabasa said Moroane, who was a nurse at the Tintswalo Hospital, died on the way to hospital.

The alleged secret lover, who had been caught with Moroane, drove off when she was knocked down the first time.

The businessman was later arrested at a nearby village.
