RESIDENTS of eNquthu in northern KwaZulu-Natal have praised police for recovering their stolen livestock.
Local resident Mzaneno James Mlambo last week lost 57 sheep and two goats valued at R55000.
Police have since recovered 29 of his sheep and two goats, in the process arresting three men suspected of being behind the theft. They also recovered five sheep heads and 28 animal skins buried at the suspects' homes.
Mlambo applauded police for a job well done.
Yesterday, the suspects led police to eMondlo cemetery where a number of sheep skins were recovered.
Themba Buthelezi, 45, Mncebo Mlambo, 28, and Bongani Maphanga, 50, yesterday appeared in the eNquthu magistrate's court charged with livestock theft. The case was postponed to Monday.
Police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane has urged people who have lost their livestock to come forward. - Mhlaba Memela
