The audience that filled the hall showed their appreciation of Faku and Braff's genius. There were moments when the jazz fans appeared to be in a trance. Faku and Braff were accompanied by Kesivan Naidu on drums and Samuel Blaser, another Swiss musician, on trombone. These artists provided the groove for Faku and Braff.
Blaser's dexterity on the trombone and his fresh approach to harmonic improvisation diverted attention from his informal approach to performance, as he sipped his beer on stage.
Faku has travelled extensively in Europe, stretching his harmonic concepts and performing and recording with Dutch and Swiss musicians. On his travels he met Braff, whose playing is influenced by his youth in Senegal and Brazil.
The pair share a complex sense of melodic lyricism, based on a continuous rhythmic groove with subtle shifts in sound palettes.
