South Africa won the right to host the quadrennial tournament at a meeting of the international body in Barcelona, Spain, at the weekend.
Barcelona hosted this year's edition of the tournament on June 19 and 20, where South African karateka were eliminated on the first day.
Karate Organisation of South Africa Matsushima style have attributed their winning of the 2014 bid to the successful 2010 Fifa World Cup.
"It was a landslide victory for us. Out of 31 member countries, 21 voted in favour of the World Cup coming to South Africa in 2014," said spokesperson Shihan Peter "Poison" Thage.
South Africa were bidding with New Zealand and Italy to host this tournament.
"Our bidding team did not have much to do - South Africa is in the news across the globe because of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
"We would like to thank the (2010 Fifa World Cup) Local Organising Committee, led by chairperson Dr Irvin Khoza, for making our country proud with a successful World Cup.
"Everybody who was in Barcelona was enjoying the developments in South Africa. Many people are now eager to visit South Africa because of the 2010 World Cup. People who used to have a negative attitude towards South Africa are now our biggest believers."
Thage said they will be meeting the government and the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee to map the way forward.
Thage attributed the dismal performances of South African karateka in Barcelona to a lack of thorough preparations.
"We did not prepare well because we did not have money to send our karateka to preparatory tournaments," Thage told Sowetan.
"But we will regroup at home in 2014."
