THE lives of the Ngoveni family in Giyani, Limpopo, will never be the same again after they received a four-roomed house from a local church.
The family had been living in abject poverty since the advent of democracy 16 years ago.
They had been without a proper shelter and used a corrugated iron house to sleep in. But now the family has a four-roomed house built for them, thanks to the Uniting Reformed Church in the area.
"Our lives will never be the same again after God used his people to rescue us after we had spent years without a place to call home," a jubilant Alisinah Ngoveni said.
The 49-year-old single mother of five children said her mud huts were washed away in 2000 by heavy floods and since then there was no place to call home.
Ngoveni said things started shaping up for the better when she started going to the local church.
"One day a member of the congregation visited me and was shocked to see under what conditions we lived.
"I believe the message was taken to other church members who decided to donate money for the construction of the house for my family."
