LAUSANNE, Switzerland - International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge says sport federations will need to join the fight against match-fixing and other betting scams if they want to belong to the Olympic movement.

Rogge says the IOC found no sign of results-fixing in Beijing and Vancouver but is concerned that gangs and illegal betting websites may try to target the Games in future.

He told AP yesterday that betting scams worth billions are "a menace to the credibility of sport" and second only to doping.

A global body dedicated to fighting doping in sport, WADA, already exists

Rogge says federations will be able to set their own rules against betting scams but a global watchdog is feasible in "a couple of years". - Sapa-AP
