Drive to Cup

YOU have to give it to the soccer fans for their sense of daring and adventure.

As reported elsewhere in the paper today, two German youngsters, Max Schwenn, 21, and Nils Pitz, 20, planned ahead as early as last November to be at Soccer City for their national team's match against Ghana.

They travelled 25000km through 14 African countries in just over 100 days in a truck.

The two, who did not watch any of the Germany 2006 games, have confessed to "loving it here" and have selflessly organised tickets for local children while they contentedly watch at fan parks.

Such patriotism should be emulated and rewarded.
