Seoul Broadcasting Services and Unicef Korea have pledged to build a multi-purpose sporting field at Nhlanhlayethu Secondary School at Dikwe, Inanda.

Nhlanhlayethu, in KwaZulu-Natal, is one of the best schools in the poverty-stricken area and the project will go a long way to change the lives of pupils and the youth.

The sporting complex is expected to be finished in six months' time. It includes a soccer field, tennis court and netball field.

Unicef South Africa representative Aida Girma said the field would certainly leave a lasting legacy for the children of the country.

MEC for education Senzo Mchunu praised the "gesture of humanity" by the Korean government and its broadcasting agency.

Mchunu urged pupils and the community to look after the facility once it had been completed. - Canaan Mdletshe
