Gowns should bring out the perfect body shape

PROSPECTIVE brides in search of the dream dress for their big day can now get a first glimpse of the trends shown on international bridal catwalks, thanks to the new collection from Bride&co.

Lieria Botha of Bride&co says the most critical component in choosing the right gown is to find the perfect match between body shape, dress silhouette and personal preference.

"It is the perfection of wearing a silhouette that perfectly complements body shape as well as the detail and the fabric that matter."

Botha advises on the dresses to suit different body shapes.

The Pear Shape

An ideal silhouette for a pearshaped bride is the A-line. This silhouette covers the bottom half and creates a focal point of the top to bring a greater sense of visual proportion to the whole. Equally flattering is the ball gown silhouette.

Tall and Slim

The sheath is the perfect silhouette for the tall, petite and slim bride. This shape freely follows the body's curves, but is also softly moulded to give this body shape the perfect outline.

The Hourglass

The silhouette best advised for an hourglass-shaped bride is the mermaid style. This shape freely follows the curves of the body, but is also softly moulded to give this body shape the perfect outline.

The Petite Shape

The ball gown is the petite bride's best-fitting silhouette. It creates the illusion of a waistline, emphasising the best part of the body.
