SAFA will channel the bulk of the proceeds of the 2010 World Cup to development as part of their plans to build a solid future Bafana Bafana squad.

This is according to Safa chief executive Leslie Sedibe, who said it will be crucial to invest in future Bafana stars.

"Development is key in our quest to unearth more talent," he said. "The money will help us to augment development."

The Safa boss also congratulated South Africans for rallying behind Bafana.

Bafana exited on Tuesday, becoming the first host country to be eliminated at this stage.

But Sedibe said: "Today we have a team that beats countries ranked much higher than us. Our opening match against Mexico was not only a test of character for our team but also that of the continent. When Bafana Bafana put on that splendid display to draw 1-1, Africa immediately won its respect. We are also proud of our win against France.

"Bafana Bafana also played a major role in creating the perfect conditions that have made South Africa the envy of the world," Sedibe said.

Safa president Kirsten Nematandani said: "Safa invested heavily in this Cup. It is an investment well spent considering the positive outcomes that are already pouring into our country and continent."
