A POLICEMAN appeared briefly in the Durban magistrate's court yesterday on a charge of murder and conspiracy to murder.

A POLICEMAN appeared briefly in the Durban magistrate's court yesterday on a charge of murder and conspiracy to murder.

Constable Reuben Dube and alleged hitman Sakhiseni Dladla are accused of killing Lieutenant-Colonel Francis Pillay. Dube and Dladla were arrested on Thursday. Pillay was shot dead outside his home a fortnight ago. Pillay worked for the police unit dealing with police disciplinary cases.

The murder case was remanded for further investigation. They will appear in court on June 28.

l Police arrested a suspect in Cato Manor in connection with armed robbery and illegal possession of cellphones in Hlabisa on KwaZulu-Natal's North Coast. Captain Thulani Zwane said the man would appear in Mtubatuba magistrate's court soon.- Mhlaba Memela
